Dear VMHS,

Wow. As a proud co-editor in chief of The Vista View this year, I should have the perfect last words to say. As someone who had to reroute her way of writing for this amazing group, I should have the perfect way to conclude. However, sometimes, the least amount of words says more. These past two years have been a lot of hard work and dedication, not just from me but from everyone involved. My incredible friend and partner Kaitlyn Heard has been a constant source of security. All of us have pulled together to bring you articles even when there were less than 15 of us in the staff.

My passion in life is to document the lives of all of us. Your life matters to me and I fully want you to live with passion and to pursue your happiness. When you are supposed to be in the spotlight, I want to help cast that light on you. The good, the bad, the ugly, the great, the grand, everything. We are human beings, not perfect but trying to find perfect moments. When you find them, relish in them. Smile when you can, laugh, dance, sing, eat, pray, or do whatever you desire so long as you don’t intentionally harm anyone else in the process.

In the words of Shakespeare, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exists and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.”

This is the time for us to be everything we’ve always wanted to be. To take a risk where we feel ready and to dive headfirst into this world. Whether we feel one hundred percent ready or not, it’s time to sink or swim. I hope to see you diving in with me.

The above is a message for my grandfather who unfortunately passed away about a month ago. He was and is one of my biggest friends and today of all days, as I feel him looking down on me from above, grandpa just remember; this one’s for you.

With love,

Lucelis Martinez
